Dare we say it??? We are seeing a good chance of a white Christmas in the forecast ❄️????????❄️
Currently we are closed, and as soon as we have a good base we'll be open!
So far, December has arrived without snow, though we’re hopeful that winter weather may make an appearance just before Christmas.
At this time, the opening date for our sled and ski hills remains uncertain. A lack of natural snowfall, combined with temperatures that have been too warm for snowmaking, has delayed our seasonal preparations.
Across the Tahoe region, we’re all waiting for the first major winter storm of the season. It’s been a dry and warmer-than-usual start to winter, and while Thanksgiving often marks the beginning of sledding at Granlibakken Tahoe’s beloved sled hill, Mother Nature has had other plans this year.
According to the current long-range forecast from OpenSnow, we’re not seeing significant snowfall until around Christmas Day. While we can’t control the weather, this anticipation is part of what makes snowy days in Tahoe so special. When the snow does arrive, the transformation is truly magical—and that’s a moment you won’t want to miss.
We’ll continue to share updates as conditions change.
