Granlibakken presents the annual Lake Tahoe Women's Wellness Weekend, November 9 & 10, 2013. The event fuses Western practices with Eastern philosophy to offer a balanced weekend of information, inspiration, activities, food & wine.
Hosting events is Granlibakken's forte. The program begins Sat AM and finishes Sunday PM. A collaboration of community medical doctors, health professionals and fitness instructors come together to provide a weekend on wellbeing. Joyce Mikal-Flynn, Ed. D, RN, FNP, MSN, a marathon runner and triathlete, survived a sudden death in 1990 requiring 22 minutes of CPR. Currently an Associate Professor at Sacramento State University, she received a BSN from University of San Francisco, a Nurse Practitioner Certificate from University of California and a MSN from California State University. In 2007 she earned a Doctor of Education completing her dissertation: Transforming Life Crisis: Stories of Metahabilitation After Catastrophic Life Events. She presents internationally and nationally her new system of rehabilitation—MetaHabilitation. Robert Eslinger, DO, HMD, or Dr. Bob, as those in his practice fondly call him, finished his formal medical training in 1978. He has been in clinical practice for over thirty years. He is certified in Family Practice, Osteopathic Manipulation and Homeopathy. For thirteen years prior to coming to Reno, Dr. Eslinger was the Medical Director of Cascade Medical Center in Cascade, Idaho. Jill Whisler, MS, RDN is a Registered Dietitian through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietietics , a certified Health Fitness Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine, completed the certification of both Adult and Pediatric Weight Management through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Tiffany McCormack, MD, FACS is a plastic surgeon in Reno. She completed her training at Stanford University Medical Center and is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. During her residency, she honed her expertise on reconstructive surgery, however currently Dr. McCormack primarily practices cosmetic surgery. Suzanne Aberasturi, Ph.D is a neuropsychologist with office locations in Reno and Carson City. For the past seven years she has had her own private practice seeing patients ranging from ages three to one hundred. Dr. Aberasturi tests to determine extent of disability, diagnosis, and treatment planning. Prior to private practice, she worked as an adjunct professor at University of Reno (UNR) teaching diagnosis and technology classes. Dr. Aberasturi has five different degrees. Stephenie Riley, ND is a mother of two, and a practicing Naturopathic Doctor (N.D.) in Tahoe City.
